Our digital photography classes are designed to help you understand how your digital SLR camera works and how to take the best photos in some of the most common real-life situations. We want to equip you with the technical knowledge that is required for you to make great photographs and, with time, become a great artist.
Each class is open to a maximum of 10 students and there is no requirement other than owning a digital SLR camera and having a passion for photography. Our students range from professional photographers, who come from a film-photography background and wish to better understand their digital equipment, to stay-at-home mothers who just want to take better photos of their children, and to beginner photographers who wish to start a career in photography.
The main topics we will cover are: Exposure, Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO, White Balance, AutoFocus, Metering, and Flash. However, in the last two classes, we will also talk about all other functions/menus of your camera, what exactly do they do, and how to use them when certain situations arise.
New! Intro to Digital Photography – Basic- $125
Our basic digital photography class is designed for students who want to learn more about how their digital SLR camera, but do not wish to go into all the technicalities of advanced digital photography. It is a simplified version of our advanced class, and we meet at our studio downtown Murfreesboro.
Intro to Digital Photography & dSLR Cameras – Advanced – $125
The advanced digital photography class is a thorough study of the basics of digital photography. We talk about the same subjects as the basic digital photography class, except that we get into more depth on each subject. This class is ideal for aspiring photographers, tech-savvy hobbyists, and self-taught photographers who never got a chance to sit down and understand exactly what is going on when they take a photo.
If weather permits, we may also meet for an outdoor workshop on a Saturday morning with each class. We will cover quite a bit of material during each meeting, so come prepared to learn a lot in a very short amount of time.
Individual Lessons
If you prefer one-on-one photography lessons on a specific subject/area, we require a minimum of two meetings within a two week period. Our lessons are between two and three hours long, and they cost $75 per lesson. Please email us your available dates and a few details about your equipment, area of interest, etc.
Photoshop Workshops (coming soon)
We will be scheduling two different Photoshop workshops at our studio, most likely at the beginning of May.
The first workshop will be for those of you who already have Photoshop installed on your laptop and wish to learn how to use it (if you want to bring your desktop in, we can make arrangements for that as well). We will be looking at different types of photos together, learn how to use layers, masks, curves, how to process RAW files, etc. Titus will also go over a few of the photos featured on The Obvious and let you experiment with editing those as well.
The second workshop will be for those of you who do not own Photoshop, but want to see what it does, and if it’s worth you investing in the program. We will be looking at different types of photos, and how photographers use Photoshop to correct colors, distortion, contrast, blemishes, etc.
In order for us to best plan these workshops, please take a moment and register for updatess here.
Thanks!
